Workshops: Watercolour Painting on Location

Friday 17 May
Session 1: Shaw House

Learn how to record what you see in order to create a series of study sketches using watercolour paints directly.

During the first session, based in the grounds at Shaw House, you will practice various techniques to record shapes, light and shade, and practice composing a picture.

Friday 24 May
Session 2: St. Mary’s Church, Shaw (Meet at Shaw House)
On our second session, based at St. Mary’s Church next to Shaw House, you will practice colour mixing and choosing colours that go well together to create a harmonious picture.

Friday 7 June
Session 3: Cloth Hall, West Berkshire Museum
Working at central Newbury locations you will concentrate on creating a watercolour piece (or pieces) that you will be proud to hang and show off.

Friday 14 June
Session 4: The Wharf and Canal View (Meet at West Berkshire Museum)
The tutor will guide you to express your personality on your work and help you pace your work to completion.

All artist quality materials will be provided (paper, brushes and paint). These workshops are suitable for beginners and those with some experience who want to clarify concepts and explore new techniques.

Please note: This workshops are mostly based outside and will go ahead whatever the weather. Please, dress accordingly and bring your own seating if you need it.
