Workshops: Still Life: Construction, Light and Colour21 February 10:00
Using interesting items from the museum collection you will put together your composition using construction (size and proportion); light (building up your picture in tone); and colour (applying colour, texture and detail).
There will be an opportunity for group discussion and individual help throughout the day.
We will also look at and discuss some examples of still life room interiors by artists such as Hans Holbein the Younger (court painter to Henry VIII), Johannes Vermeer (Dutch painter), and Paul Cezanne (post-impressionist French artist).
Materials you need to provide:
A3 or larger sketch pad, watercolours or acrylic paints, 1 tube of white gouache, paintbrushes (suggested number 2 or 3 for detail and numbers 8 or 12 for larger areas).
