The Importance of Being Earnest – Outdoor Theatre

07 July 19:30

A trivial comedy written for serious people

Friday 7th July 2017
Gates open at 6pm, performance 7.30pm

New Era Players, a locally based amateur theatre group, will be presenting what is considered to be Oscar Wilde’s best play ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’.  Join us on the Great Lawn where Shaw House will provide the perfect backdrop to add to the sense of grandeur and style.

First presented in the West End in 1895, the play still inspires gales of laughter even today.  It is a comedy where serious things are treated with triviality and trivial things are taken seriously culminating in a hilarious series of mistaken identities, when everyone learns the vital importance of being earnest!
