A walk taking in the Market Place, Newbury Wharf, Victoria Park, Newbury Lock, Northcroft Lane and the south of Northbrook Street with its alleyways, showing Newbury’s history from the Domesday Book to the modern day. Pubs, breweries, almshouses, coaching and canal era prosperity and subsequent decline contrast with today’s latest buildings and prosperity.
YOUR GUIDE: Jeremy Holden-Bell is Chairman of the Newbury Society and has been guiding walking tours of Newbury since the 1980s. He is the author of Two Town Walks in Newbury.
