Family Discovery Day01 April 11:00
Join us for a fun packed day at the museum where you can explore what is on offer for families with a series of free medieval themed activities.

Experience the Corn Exchange’s Saturday Stories at this *free* taster session. Aimed at families with children aged 7 and under, you can join in with songs and rhymes as well as hear stories themed around magic, with a special featured story about a magic porridge pot to tie-in with objects in the museum’s new permanent exhibition which you can explore afterwards! Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis on the day.

*Free* craft workshop linked to the medieval pottery in the Lives and Landscape exhibition. Make and take a medieval tyg (pottery drinking vessel) out of air-drying clay, and handle a replica one. Drop-in between the times indicated, last entry is 12.55pm. Aimed at families with children 4-11 years old.

Blaze, the museum dragon, will be on site to meet and greet you. This is a rare opportunity to get your picture taken with Blaze, who lives on the weathervane on the roof of the Cloth Hall most of the time!

Creation Station West Berkshire will be offering two *free* taster workshops for babies:
2.15-2.45pm 0-6 months Tiny Treasures;
2.50pm-3.20pm 6-18 months Baby Discover.
These two 30 minute sessions will be themed around medieval swords and shields. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis on the day.

Launch of the museum’s new permanent exhibition trail featuring another museum dragon, Iggy, who is a friend of Blaze! Blaze will be there to hand out the trails.
The museum will be open, as usual, from 10am to 4pm. Free entry. To celebrate the Family Discovery Day and opening of the new permanent exhibition, Lives and Landscape, free balloons will be available for children to take away (while stocks last).
